Quick Poll

A free, in-browser alternative to Mentimeter for the classroom. Ask a question on screen, students answer from their phones, see results live. No accounts, no apps, no setup. Save answers as a PDF or spreadsheet when you’re done.

Open the tool

Click below to open Quick Poll in a new tab. It works straight away — no sign-in, no setup.

Launch Quick Poll
Tip: bookmark the link so you can find it again next time.
For the teacher (on the projector laptop):
  1. Open the tool and click Start a new poll.
  2. Type your question. Add more questions if you like (multiple choice, word cloud, open text, or scale).
  3. Click Show on big screen. A big 5-letter code and a QR code appear.
  4. Students scan the QR with their phone camera, or type the 5-letter code at the same website on their phone.
  5. As students answer, the screen updates live with bars or a word cloud.
  6. Use Next → to move through the questions.
For the student (on their phone):
  1. Either scan the QR code on the screen, or visit this same page and tap Join.
  2. Type the 5 letters from the screen.
  3. Tap, slide or type their answer.
  4. Wait for the teacher to move on — the next question appears automatically.

Multiple choice

Phones get coloured tap buttons. Choose one answer, or switch on “allow multiple answers” for select-all-that-apply. The screen shows live bars with counts and percentages.

Word cloud

Students type short words. Frequent words appear larger. Italian and English filler words are filtered automatically.

Open text

Full sentence answers, streamed to the screen as cards as they arrive.

Scale

A slider from any number to any number, with words you choose for the low and high end.

Keep the teacher’s tab open. The poll runs from inside the teacher’s browser tab. If the tab is closed or the laptop is shut, the phones lose the connection. Reopen the tool, click Start a new poll again, and you’ll get a fresh code.

Polls auto-save while you build them. If you close the tab while editing, your questions come back next time you open the tool — just click the Continue editing link on the home page.

Works on the same Wi-Fi or different networks. Students can be on the school Wi-Fi or mobile data. Around 30–40 phones is comfortable; larger classes are fine but a little slower to connect.

Nothing is stored on a server. All the answers stay in the teacher’s browser. Once the tab closes, the answers are gone — so before you end the poll, click Save as PDF for a nicely formatted printable summary, or Save as spreadsheet for a CSV you can open in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets.

n Optional — save your polls to reuse them. Click Sign in with Google on the home screen to save a poll’s questions to your account and reload them on any device next time. This is just for you, the teacher — students still join with only a code, no sign-in, and the live answers still stay in your browser.
