Cambridge B2 First is a stepping-stone exam — passing it shows you can hold a conversation about everyday topics, follow a film, and write a clear short text. Here is how to prepare without the panic.
Reading & Use of English (75 min)
Practise open cloze and word formation tasks daily — even ten minutes counts. The grammar tested is mostly B1-B2 level, so what you will really improve is recognition speed.
Writing (80 min)
Two pieces: an essay and a choice (article, email, report or review). Build a bank of useful linkers: although, despite, furthermore, on the other hand. Write to time, not to perfection.
Listening (40 min)
Listen to the same podcast twice — once for gist, once for detail. The exam expects you to handle different accents, so do not only listen to one.
Speaking (14 min)
Practise the four parts with a partner or with an AI. The hardest part is collaborating — listening, agreeing, disagreeing politely, and reaching a decision in Part 3.
One last tip: book the date before you feel ready. The deadline does the rest of the work.
